Jake Crum Has Top Ten Finish At Newport: Rushed to the Hospital after Race
Newport, TN: Jake “the snake” Crum driver of the #1 Team Crum Racing Chevrolet had a tough UARA Stars race at Newport Speedway in Newport, TN.
Crum started the race in 16th and was able to navigate through the field into 6th place with only ten laps to go when there was a caution due to an emergency incident with another driver. During the caution Crum entered into the pits where he complained of chest pains and trouble breathing. Crum was able to drink a bit of water and get back on the track and finished the race in 8th.
Immediately following the race Crum came out of the car and laid down. EMT’s ran over to assist him. At this time Crum had a very weak pulse with shallow breathing and chest pains. Due to the earlier incident there was not an ambulance on site. Finally, Crum was taken to the hospital where he was treated and release. There is currently a suspicion of carbon monoxide poisoning.
After a day of rest on Sunday Crum is feeling almost back to his old self.
